The Jazz only shot 37.2% from the floor last night and it killed them.  Al Jefferson only shot 6 of 18 from the floor but he still finished up with 16 points, 14 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Andrei Kirilenko also had a solid game with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal.  Paul Millsap and Raja Bell each pitched in with 12 points apiece in this game.  The Jazz are now 28-20 on the year.

Earl Watson needs to step up for the Utah Jazz

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by admin on Monday 31 January 2011 at 1:42 am

The Utah Jazz need 31-year old backup point guard Earl Watson to step up.  Deron Williams didn’t start in the Jazz’ last game and Watson responded by playing 39 minutes in which he had 10 points, 2 rebounds, 13 assists and 1 steal.  Watson has played in 45 games (1 start) for the Jazz so far this year and he is averaging 14.9 minutes, 3.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.  He is a better player than he has shown so far this year so the Jazz need him to step up and be more consistent going forward.

The Jazz held off the pesky T-Wolves in Salt Lake City last night.  Paul Millsap led the way for the Jazz last night with 30 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 6 steals and 1 blocked shot.  Andrei Kirilenko had his best game of the year for the Jazz last night as he finished up with 27 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals and 1 blocked shot.  C.J. Miles was outstanding off the bench in this game with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in 26 minutes.  Earl Watson got the start at the point in place of an injured Deron Williams and he responded with 10 points, 2 rebounds, 13 assists and 1 steal in 39 minutes on the floor.  The Jazz are now 28-19 on the year.

The Jazz shot 54.7% from the floor last night but they didn’t play any D so it didn’t matter.  Deron Williams was on fire as he led the way for the Jazz with 39 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists and 1 steal last night.  Al Jefferson filled up the stat sheet with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots.  C.J. Miles (13 points) and Andrei Kirilenko (10 points) also pitched in for the Jazz last night.  The Jazz are now 27-19 on the year.

The Jazz never had a chance last night as they were down 66-38 at the half last night.  The Jazz didn’t play ANY defense last night as the Lakers shot a stunning 62% from the floor in this game and it was the biggest reason for the blowout.  Deron Williams led the way for the Jazz last night with 17 points, 8 assists and 2 steals.  C.J. Miles (14 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals) and Paul Millsap (11 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists in 27 minutes) had so-so games last night for the Jazz.  Al Jefferson (10 points) and rookie forward Jeremy Evans (10 points in 8 minutes) also pitched in last night.  The Jazz are now 27-18 on the year.

The Jazz didn’t play any D last night as the Celtics shot 55.2% from the floor.  The Jazz fell behind 59-41 at the half and they didn’t show much heart in the 2nd half either.  Earl Watson led the way for the Jazz in this game with 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot in 25 minutes off the bench.  Andrei Kirilenko, Paul Millsap and Gordon Hayward pitched in with 11 points apiece in this game for the Jazz.  The Jazz are now 27-16 on the year.

Paul Millsap has been really solid for the Utah Jazz so far this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 22 January 2011 at 1:30 am

25-year old power forward Paul Millsap bided his time for years sitting behind Carlos Boozer.  When Boozer left as a free agent, Millsap inherited his starting job and he’s been making the most of it so far this year.  Millsap has played in 41 games (all starts) for the Jazz so far this year and he is averaging 34.2 minutes, 17.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game.  Millsap is shooting 53.8% from the floor so far this year as he has been very unselfish offensively so far this year.  I look for Millsap to finish strong in the second half for the Jazz as I think he can put up better numbers then he has so far this season.

The Utah Jazz don’t have much faith in their rookies yet

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by admin on Saturday 22 January 2011 at 1:26 am

The Utah Jazz have not had much P.T. available for their rookies and don’t look for that to change any time soon.  20-year old SG/SF Gordon Hayward has looked overmatched so far this year.  He has played in 35 games (6 starts) so far this year for the Jazz and he is averaging 11.1 minutes, 3.2 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.  23-year old forward Jeremy Evans has been better than Hayward so far this year.  He has played in 19 games (0 starts) for the Jazz so far this year and he is averaging 6.2 minutes, 2.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.  He is shooting an amazing 70% from the floor (21 of 30) so far this year.  With the Jazz setting goals of winning an NBA Championship, I just don’t see Hayward or Evans getting much P.T. the rest of the year.

Miles pitched in with 13 points in 27 minutes off the bench.  The Jazz are now 27-15 on the year.
